Valentine’s Love Box: Menage a Trois, Anyone?

£80.00

Domaine des Lauriers: Le Bon Cote Blanc ‘19
Languedoc, France
Vermentino, TerretThe Cabrol family own 45 hectares of vines surrounded by richly fragrant Mediterranean Garrigue, which imparts a stunning herbal quality to this lush drop. These guys are artisanal producers with a focus on retaining a steely freshness & the grapes are harvested at night, when it’s cool, & the 2 varietals are vinified separately before blending. Grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press to avoid extraction of harsh tannins or phenols before fermentation under inert gas. After 3 weeks the wine is transferred to tank to age on the lees for 3 months before blending. The result is a bright wine; crisp & fruity with white flowers & stone fruits showing on the palate. There’s an energetic zippiness with a lush acidity & sensual mouthfeel…perhaps the inspiration for the nawty label art alongside the tongue-in-cheek namesake: The Bright Side.  Crack open for a cheeky aperatif to whet the appetite or pair with light creamy dishes or sea food for the ultimate mouth party.

Varietals: Vermentino & Terret, Languedoc, France, Sustainable, vegan, small batch

Lammidia: Miscela ’18/‘19
Puglia, Italy
Montepulciano, Pecorino, Trebbiano etc
Best buds from the age of 3, Davide & Marco grew into such rampant natty heads that they decided to make their own! Their slogan ‘100% grapes’ is frankly genius & their pash for the ‘glou glou’ (or glug glug, meaning utterly smashable) is hardcore realness. The name is born of a historic dialect, ‘mmidia’ meaning envy or evil eye, kept at bay by ritual & blessings. This wine is a wild & super blend of a portion of every wine from the ’18 vintage plus some Bianchetto & Rosh from ’19. A top secret recipe & now a vintage tradtion, a whimsical & neckable red, light on it’s feet, fresh & easy going. She’s overflowing with flavours of tight red fruit & serious thirst quenching- made exactly to the personal taste of the guys, inspired by framboise lambic!
Varieties: Montepulciano  Trebbiano, Pecorino etc, etc…
Abruzzo, Italy
Organic, vegan, unfiltered, unfined

Patrick Bouju & Justine Loiseau: Sein pour Sein ‘18
Auvergne, France
Pinot Noir, Gamay
Oh my, what a cheeky little number she is! As per her name-sake, Sein pour Sein is ready ‘to be poured’& if she doesn’t seduce you then you’re probably made of wood. This gorgeous collaboration by Patrick & Justine is made from their mates’ grapes grown in St Pourcain. The influence on the land from a chain of extinct volcanoes, the Puy de Dôme, shines through & this long, light delight is bristling with minerality & an intriguing complexity. The influence of the Gamay shows in spicy notes, red fruits and a hint of a primal animal character which, integrated with the Basaltic Pinot Noir’s wild cherry, raspberry, vaguely mushroom vibe, is the ultimate combo. Aged for 18 months in old barrels there’s a texture & touch of smokiness to the mouth that I frankly can’t get enough of. She has my heart, I might write a poem about her.

Biodynamic, vegan, unfiltered, unfined
