Not all natural winemakers from Nitra are called Jan but it would seem there are a few & it’s a gang I can get onboard with! Now this ‘orange’ wine definitely reflects the bright colour of it’s style, despite never coming into contact with a single orange. The grapes were crushed & co-fermented on skins for 21 days to extract the rich colour before pressing & ageing in used oak barrels for 8 months on the fine lees. There’s an exhilarating fragrant nose with a palate of apricot, stone fruits & a hint of blossom. All the grapes come from a single vineyard so the identity is rich & revealing. Chill her down before serving then let her warm as you sip, unfurling layers of aromatics. Delicious drunk alone & equally epic with Asian cuisine or seafood.
