Oh my, what a cheeky little number she is! As per her name-sake, Sein pour Sein is ready ‘to be poured’& if she doesn’t seduce you then you’re probably made of wood. This gorgeous collaboration by Patrick & Justine is made from their mates’ grapes grown in St Pourcain. The influence on the land from a chain of extinct volcanoes, the Puy de Dôme, shines through & this long, light delight is bristling with minerality & an intriguing complexity. The influence of the Gamay shows in spicy notes, red fruits and a hint of a primal animal character which, integrated with the Basaltic Pinot Noir’s wild cherry, raspberry, vaguely mushroom vibe, is the ultimate combo. Aged for 18 months in old barrels there’s a texture & touch of smokiness to the mouth that I frankly can’t get enough of. She has my heart, I might write a poem about her.
