The Patil Family’s roots go deep into the loamy soil of Nashik and this enterprising husband wife duo have transformed 100 acres of ancestral farmland into the vineyards and boutique estate bottled winery we see today. The embracing of Italian influence is a key expression of Wine maker Andrea Valentinuzzi’s art.
VITICULTURE + VINIFICATION
The Sangiovese vines were planted in ’06 using VSP double cordon systems at an altitude of 550m above sea level. After hand harvesting at 24 brix, between 3am and 9am for temperature
control, the grapes were de-stemmed.
Fermentation was in stainless steel at 18-22º and the wine underwent a secondary, malolactic fermentation. Pressing was up to 1 bar to extract must while eliminating skin and seeds before racking and stabilisation. Final filtration was completed at 0.45 microns with bentonite and PVPP fining. The wine in bottled fresh without any ageing in oak.
An intense, ruby coloured wine with aromas of raspberry, cherry and spice. A soft and fruity palate with textured tannins and well-balanced acidity offers a well-rounded mouth feel and lingering smoky finish.
