Picapol ’19, Domaine La Boheme, Patrick Bouju & Justine Loiseau, France

£27.00

A stunning Picpoul but not as you know it…! The classically lean, saline style with notes of lemon pith has been down the gym and grown bigger, wider, creamier; developing next level complexity. She’s heady & textured from the influence of skin contact with brightness that dazzles- an absolute charmer! The grapes for this esoteric beaut are purchased from Patrick & Justine’s buds over at Domaine Petit Roubie in Pinet, a well-established organic estate. After maceration in whole bunches for 15 days in cuve (tanks) they undergo a short elevage, where the wine is “raised” from its raw state immediately post-alcoholic fermentation, to the point where it can be bottled. Patrick & Justine rep a hedonistic, pretension free interpretation of the wine world with their epically covetable & joyfully experimental natty’s…I’ve got all the time in the world for this kind of integrity, & then some.
