Die Wonder-Draai ‘19, Lowerland, South Africa
Hell yes to crispy, autumny aromas of wheat straw, citrus preserves and toffee apple chased by a breezy minerality on the nose. The grapes were whole bunch pressed & co-fermented in old French oak to deliver a full bodied punchy white, smacking of dried fruits & freshly baked bread sticks. This wine is an epic example of sublime integration; fresh mandarin & kelpy salinity of Chenin meets the rounded creamy yet tangy appleskin acidity of Colombard. Throw in the oak & we got ourselves a holy trinity for sacred sippin’. Only 1.5k bottles. Basically gold dust.
Varietals: 62% Colombard, 38% Chenin Blanc
