Cliquant Nuances de Gris ’18, Lucy M, Anton van Klopper, Australia
If the dark pinky grey colour of this amber wine doesn’t have you intrigued then nothing will! Whole bunches are harvested from Robert Surmann’s vineyard in Totness with it’s black sandy soil on petrified schist. The grapes spend a whole month macerating in open top puncheons to deliver a textured, mineral delight. Flavours of warm, ripe stone fruit come shining through, with a hint of cantelope & a smidge of almond; she’s intriguing & devilishly moreish. Extra chill her to smash back on the beach or let her versatility shine with food. Anton just wants you to have a damned good time in a planet friendly way & this is his sublime offering…cheers to that!
