Amphorae Carinyena ‘16, Costa D’Or Terroirs Mediterrani, Spain
An awesome amphora wine. Nuff said. Could creep up to beast-like in size but the freshness elevates it to dangerously gluggable levels. Grown in clay & aged in clay there’s a pure elegance to this fruity, textural creature. 2-4 months macerating in amphorae post fermentation has widened the palate so it can stand up to some hardcore food pairings & hold it’s own in the flavour ring. This wine kept me on my toes while wrapping me in a comforting hug… intriguing to the bottom of the bottle.
